August 31st 2016

A Joe Cocker Tribute Evening.

December the 22nd 2016 will see the second anniversary of the death of one of my musical heroes, the late and great Joe Cocker.

I am planning on doing a special set of some of his best known songs on this evening.

If all goes according to plan, the set will start at 22:30 on Thursday December 22nd and will consist of about 8 to 10 songs.

I am also looking at the possibility of doing a tribute album as well but, it all depends on licensing costs etc.

If you are planning on being in GC at this time, pop in and catch the show.

August 31st 2016

So, if you are planning on being there on those nights…..be early, just to be sure that you are close to the action!

The new album "Bloodline" will now be released on November 16th 2015

Gerry Lane is revisiting the music of his old band from Ireland “DRIVESHAFT”. DRIVESHAFT was one of the great classic rock bands to come out of the Cork area in the 1980’s. They toured extensively in Ireland and England playing their own headlining shows and also supporting visiting international acts like; Rory Gallagher, Phil Lynott’s Grand Slam, Saxon, Def Leppard, MSG (Michael Schenker Group). The new album will be out on Monday November 16th

NEW INSTRUMENTAL:

Spiorad na hÉireann (Spirit Of Ireland)

In November of 2013, I was in Ireland for two weeks just…traveling around the country (something that I hadn’t done in about 30 years) and taking a lot of photos and video.

This short 4 minute film is the end result. I have also composed an instrumental track especially for the project titled:  “Spiorad na hÉireann” which when translated from Irish to English means: “Spirit Of Ireland”

Re-Recording the Old DRIVESHAFT Songs

During the last 4/5 months, I have been re-recording a lot of the songs from my old band which I had in Ireland during the early 80’s called: DRIVESHAFT.

A lot of people will probably remember DRIVESHAFT…especially those of you from Ireland and England.

The band released 4 singles and 1 EP and, it supported a lot of the visiting international classic rock bands visiting Ireland during the early 80’s.

Some of those bands were: Saxon, MSG (Michael Schenker Group) Def Leppard, Phil Lynott’s Grand Slam, Rory Gallagher, ZZ Top to name but a few.

Some of the songs that will be on the album are as follows;

Cold As Ice

Heartbreaker

Hot Love

Take A Chance On Me

Cryin’

The album should be ready for release late December or early 2015.

The new album "10 Years In The Hole" will be released on December 2nd.

10 Years In The Hole is a “Best Of” compilation album featuring songs from Gerry’s last three album releases. The album will have 14 tracks in total and that includes the new single called, “I Believe In You”.Gerry explains that, he decided to release the song “I Believe In You” as a single because: “a lot of people will already have the other songs on the albums Meloneras Blues, Till’ The End Of The Line and Long Way Home so, it would be unfair to expect them to pay for those songs again”.

So, for the people that don’t already have the other albums, “10 Years In The Hole” will be a good introduction to the music.

10 Years In The Hole will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, CD Cdaby.com etc and of course, at the gigs in the 19th Hole.

The new single "I Believe In You" will be released on December 1st.

On December the 1st, Gerry Lane will release his first solo single titled: “I Believe In You". The song has been getting a great reaction in Gerry’s live set in the 19th Hole these past few weeks. On the track Gerry has a very special guest playing bass guitar, her name is; Oneida James-Rebeccu. Oneida is from Los Angles, California and she has her own production company called: Bliss Productions. Oneida is also the bass player in Joe Cockers touring band. Get more information on Oneida at www.oneidajames.com  The song, “I Believe In You” will be available on iTunes, all the Amazon sites, CD Caby.com, Spotify and all the usual outlets. Download cards for the single will also be available directly at Gerry’s shows in the Hole.

 DRIVESHAFT NEWS:

(Jeremy Nagle (Guitar), Noel Murphy (Bass), Mike Maher (Drums) and Gerry Lane (Vocals and Guitar)

DRIVESHAFT NEWS: I have been asked quiet a lot over the past few years about the availability of the music from my old band “DRIVESHAFT”. Just recently, I had an email from Sweden asking if I have a release date for the music.....at the moment, I don’t have a release date. I formed the band in Ireland in the early 80’s and we did quite a lot of tours in Ireland with international acts like: Rory Gallagher, Phil Lynott and Grand Slam, Saxon, Def Leppard, Michael Schenker and ZZ Top...and also we did a lot of our own headline gigs both in Ireland and in England in venues like The Marquee Club London, SFX in Dublin and, Sir Henrys in Cork. So, I have decided to get a lot of the old DRIVESHAFT recordings together and see if I can get full albums worth of material. It would be a project done in two parts. Part one will be an album of the original recordings. Part two will be an album of brand new recordings of the same original songs plus some extra DRIVESHAFT songs that never made it to disc before.
